What the student puts into the unit is exactly what is transmitted to the computer. With a simple press of the button the student's answers are relayed to the instructor's computer for grading. The student's GradePlus unit immediately receives feedback of test results.

Procedure:
Press the "Send" button after placing your GradePlus unit near the infrared device (attached to your instructor's computer).

When the "Send" button is depressed a coded signal is sent out looking for a response. The GradePlus Software recognizes the coded signal, and the data is read and grouped into the computer's memory. The data is verified twice against the handheld unit before it is stored permanently in the program. If any information packet is not exactly the same an error message is transmitted back to the handheld unit and no information is altered.

If the information is verified by the handheld unit, the software program compares the answer to the instructor's master-key and grades the test submitted. Two separate data files are recorded and stored with all the data to be graded, scored, and recorded.

Amazingly, all this occurs in two seconds when the results are transferred back to the handheld unit with the number of correctly answered questions. Because instructors may weigh each question differently and grade on a curve, this gives you an approximate result.
